The streetlights, shining golden light on the surface of the sidewalks wet with melted snow, give us a sense of security that some condition is being met and order is being maintained. We believe that this sense of security is guaranteed by someone. We wrap ourselves in this warm blanket that leaves no room for doubt, and lean on our warm dreams, imaginations, and hopes, as if we have given ourselves over. And so we are able to continue wasting our time in peace. We are merely placed carelessly and without support on top of the accumulation of small coincidences and good fortune, the result of countless trials.
